Club Tournaments and Club Matches

Club Tournaments

All Senior Members are welcome to enter the Club Tournaments played in the Summer season each year. These are usually played as Knockout rounds, with random draws for the initial ties and for partners in the Doubles competitions.

Tournament format and rules for 2022

Men’s and Ladies Singles

Matches comprise 2 normal tie-break sets, plus a Championship tie-break (1st pair to at least 10 points, by 2 clear points). Sudden Death on 2nd Deuce. The Finals will be played as 3 normal tie-break sets.

Men’s Veteran Singles

Matches comprise 2 normal tie-break sets, plus a Championship tie-break (1st pair to at least 10 points, by 2 clear points). Sudden Death on 2nd Deuce. The Final will be played to the same format as the other rounds.

Men’s, Ladies and Mixed Doubles

Matches comprise 3 normal tie-break sets. Sudden Death on 2nd Deuce. The Finals will be played to the same format as the other rounds.

If a player is injured during a match and cannot continue, they must forfeit the match and their opponent will progress to the next round. If a player cannot play the tie by the set dates, they will have to forfeit their place to a Lucky Loser.

The first Finals will be the Men’s and Ladies Doubles and the Men’s Veteran Singles on 30th July, so the Semi-Finals must be played by 23rd July.

The remaining Finals will be the Men’s and Ladies Singles and the Mixed Doubles on 13th August, so the Semi-Finals must be played by 6th August.

Players are asked to play their matches in good time to keep the tournaments on schedule and all participants should be pro-active in arranging dates.

The winning player(s) should write the results on the sheets on the Clubhouse noticeboard (if the Clubhouse is open) or otherwise send an email to Stephen Wade at stepgron@btinternet.com

The Club arranges mid-week friendlies with other local clubs during the Summer months for Ladies Doubles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
