                   Finals Day

         Saturday 14 September

Bad weather, together with a lack of finalists, meant that our first Finals Day in July could not take place. However, we are delighted to be able announce two finals for the morning of 14 September.

The Mens Doubles Final will feature David Stirk and Brian Keegan against Paul Taylor and Paul Stainsbury. This is scheduled to start at 9.30am.

This will be followed by the Mens Veterans Final between

Chris Ponulak and Peter Sargent.

We are hoping that the remaining Finals can be played on the following two Saturdays. Watch this space............

We hope that lots of our members will be able to come along to cheer the players on. Who knows.......if the matches are over quickly, some social play may be possible afterwards!

            QUIZ NIGHT 2018

On Saturday evening, 5th May, over 100 members and guests turned up at St Paul's Church Hall, Crofton, for our latest very successful Quiz Night.  The questions were challenging, the competition was fierce and the cake was delicious!

Many thanks to Louise Nicholas and her "team" for organising a great evening.

Christmas (Mince Pie) Tournament

The weather forecast was grim for 29th December, but FTC members are not easily deterred.

................................................Undeterred FTC members.......................................................

As it turned out, play was continuous almost all afternoon, with just one short rain-break. We triumphed. Or at least some of us did.

The overall winners were Margaret Gooden and David Howell, with Jane Wells, Steve Gooden and Brian Keegan as joint runners-up.

.........Steve....Margaret......David.....Jane.....Brian

To conclude the afternoon, the last remaining trophies were presented to winners of our 2017 Summer Tournament.

Louise Nicholas was crowned Ladies Singles Champion and Louise also claimed the Mixed Doubles trophy with David Howell.

We have hit the front page of the newspapers!

Celebration!

In 2015, FTC was 40 years old. To celebrate our 40th anniversary a special Dinner was held on Saturday Evening, 3rd October, at Cherry Lodge Golf Club in Biggin Hill. Current members were joined by many former members, including several who were there at the very beginning of the Club's history. Our thanks go especially to Margaret Gooden and her family for organising the event. Margaret and her late husband Colin Shakspeare were two of the founder members back in 1975.

Our Chairman, Nigel Holmes, speaking at the 40th Anniversary Dinner

The red carpet was rolled out and trophies were presented to the runners-up and winners of this year's Summer Tournament.

The Colin Shakspeare Cup presented by his daughters Rachel and Jocelyn to June Beesley and David Howell (Mixed Doubles Champions)
